The Mirabel Foundation
The Mirabel fable tells the story of a saintly woman,
distressed by a society that ignored the plight of vulnerable and
neglected children. Mirabel loved and cared for these children
and provided them with a home. Although her resources were scarce,
she never turned a child away.
The Mirabel Foundation assists Australian children who have been orphaned
or abandoned due to parental illicit drug use.
Mirabel believes that these children deserve support whilst growing up,
and is committed to making this a reality. Through early intervention
and involvement they believe they can make a difference.
The Mirabel Foundation works towards:
• Supporting the children and their carers
• Providing therapeutic and recreational activities
• Undertaking research and aiming to break the cycle
One of the key ways in which Mirabel Foundation supports these children
is through therapy. Often highly traumatised, these children express
themselves best through drawing. All art materials are supplied free
of charge by Micador Group. We also provide financial assistance and
Christmas presents for the children and carers.
We are currently undertaking a joint project with the Mirabel Foundation
to launch a book, A Rainbow of Feelings, a collection of art
work created in therapy and the explanations of the children and their
